On June 8th and 9th, Academy of Moving People & Images co-organized a study trip to Vaasa to visit our new collaborators at Filmverkstaden where AMPI participants learned about the process of working with analogue. Lasse Krister Vairio and Britt Al-Busultan shared with the participants their knowledge of workflow, possibilities, equipment and basic 16mm filmmaking followed by a film screening ‘Landscape at Large’ with films by Nazli Dincel, Alexandre Larose, Inger Lise Hansen, Emmanuel Lefrant, Malena Szlam.
On June 11th, with the collaboration of Goethe-Institut Finnland, the participants of the Academy of Moving People & Images took part in a masterclass by director Nora Fingscheidt. During the class, Nora showed us a few clips of her first feature film, System Crasher (Germany, 2019) which is being screened today at the Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä. She also talked about child acting and her experience in directing children.
Museum of Impossible Forms in collaboration with Academy of Moving People & Images and Aalto University/Critical Cinema Lab, warmly welcomes filmmaker Heiny Srour, one of the important female filmmakers in the Third Cinema movement of the 70s, to screen and discuss her seminal film ‘The Hour of Liberation Has Arrived’.
